Assembling market data that will assist tourism providers in identifying potential patrons and profitable target market segments based on tourist behavior and markets.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">5. Working with tourism providers, travel agencies, other tourist promotion agencies to package and sell complete tourism products.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">7. Networking with individuals and various organizations to improve and enhance the viability of local tourism businesses through diversification, niche marketing and regional branding.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-family: Verdana"><strong><u>Business Recruitment &amp; Expansion</u></strong></span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Verdana">1.&nbsp; Coordinate a wide variety of new and existing economic development initiatives under the direction of the Payroll Development Authority. </span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">2.&nbsp; Write an annual report outlining major achievements; disseminate to commission members.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">3.&nbsp; Handle in timely manner all inquiries and contacts of prospective new industry, service and retail businesses.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">4.&nbsp; Travel when necessary to meet with specific prospects, organizations, individuals, or other economic development related meetings.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">5.&nbsp; Work with agricultural organizations/agencies to promote value-added agriculture projects in county.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">6.&nbsp; Assist the Payroll Development Authority in the development of new incentive programs for business, housing, or other infrastructure needs related to economic development.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">7.&nbsp; Maintain and regularly update the PDA business start-up packet for small business clients. Meet with prospective clients to go over packet and resources.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">8.&nbsp; Maintain constant and aggressive contact with known industries that have expressed an interest in the county; and with existing business and industry in county.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">9.&nbsp; Come up with new ideas and creative initiatives to promote and grow Washington and Wilkes County.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">10. Any other duties as assigned by the Payroll Development Authority.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">11. Several of these activities require attendance at evening and possible weekend meetings.</span></div>

Education &#8211; Bachelor&#8217;s Degree with five years&#8217; experience in tourism, economic development, marketing or related field preferred; or equivalent years of experience in economic development or related field.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">2. Required skills &#8211; The director must have a proven track record in marketing or tourism promotion. Demonstrated success in organizational development, business recruitment, business retention, and assisting with business expansion projects is preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have budgeting skills and be able to work within budget parameters.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana">3. Knowledge of computers and technology, knowledgeable of local, state, and federal resources. Must have strong background in marketing, sales, and public relations. <p>As the regional planning agency for metro Atlanta, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) seeks to demonstrate professional and forward-looking leadership to ensure sustainable growth, livability and competitive advantage by focusing and balancing environmental responsibility, economic growth and social needs. Through its reorganization, called the &#8220;evolution plan,&#8221; ARC is seeking to go beyond the minimum requirements in all aspects of its work, to focus its resources and work with regional partners to advance the Atlanta region&#8217;s overall standing as a globally competitive and attractive place. 
<p>The Community Engagement function is housed within the Center for Strategic Relations, along with Communications/Marketing, Government Affairs and Strategic Initiatives functions. <p>The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for providing staff leadership and strategic direction in the development, execution and evaluation of a comprehensive community engagement framework for the agency. This individual is responsible for engagement strategy development and implementation; developing various community engagement techniques; training other ARC staff members who perform community engagement as a part of their overall job duties; working closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator in the Transportation Access &amp; Mobility Division; all of this in order to enhance the effectiveness of regional plans, policies, programs and projects. This position assists all divisions within ARC in developing and executing community engagement strategy and requires contact with all levels of the agency including senior management, board members, staff, community partners and the public. <p>Job Summary: Intern will gain first-hand experience in planning and development through exposure to Comprehensive and long range planning, site plan review and zoning administration. 
<p>Duties &amp; Responsibilities: Comprehensive Planning - Update planning studies and reports, coordinate and attend community meetings, research and assist in ordinance updates. Development Review and Design - Review plans of development, coordinate reviews with County agencies, review sign applications. Code Administration - Conduct site visits and assist in preparation of staff reports. Planning Systems - Maintain Geographic Information System data, prepare maps and other exhibits. 
<p>Qualifications: Must be a graduate student in good standing at an accredited program or recent graduate of such in the following or closely related field of study: Public Administration, Urban &amp; Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Engineering or Architecture. Training in GIS preferred. Professional Attitude. Ability to communicate effectively. Work independently and follow instruction. Experience in Microsoft Office preferred.

<p>BACKGROUND: The City of Clarkston is located in central-west DeKalb County, near regional destinations such as Stone Mountain and is a fifteen minute drive from the City of Atlanta. The current population is approximately 7,500 contained within city boundaries of 1.1 miles. The City recently moved to a city-manager form of government and is aggressively exploring opportunities for annexation. The City seeks an experienced and self-motivated code compliance professional to develop and manage all aspects of the city&#8217;s code compliance function. The position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to develop systems and procedures to achieve a high level of proficiency within the assigned area of responsibility. There also exist an opportunity to gain experience across other discipline areas and pursue a strategic growth plan under the direction of the Planning &amp; Development Manager and the City Manager. 
<p>JOB SCOPE: <br />This position is responsible for enforcement of City Ordinances and Code compliance, responding to the needs of the general public by performing inspections of home and business properties for code compliance; working to achieve the highest level of cooperation and to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of code enforcement within the City of Clarkston. 
<p>MAJOR DUTIES:<br />&#8226; Proactively identify violations of City code, appropriate zoning ordinances, sign regulation and related laws, ordinances or codes; issues courtesy notices, notices of violation, citations, correction notices and stop work orders to ensure compliance; conducts follow-up investigations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances;<br />&#8226; Patrols and monitors assigned area including demolition, new construction, renovation, housing violations and basic building and mechanical inspections; <br />&#8226; Seeks compliance with City ordinances from citizens and businesses; acts as liaison between the complainants, alleged violators and the City; <br />&#8226; Meets with owners, tenants, contractors, developers, businesses, etc. to review and explain code requirements, violations and/or potential violations; secures code compliance.<br />&#8226; Prepares written reports of inspections as specified by department procedures; issues warnings and citations when violations are proven;<br />&#8226; Maintains files and records related to citations and violations; prepares a variety of written reports, memoranda and correspondence;<br />&#8226; Answers, inquiries and provides information to the general public regarding existing code regulations and policies;<br />&#8226; Presents evidence and testimony in courts of law; assists in prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases.<br />&#8226; Completes all required reports and forms.<br />&#8226; Maintains assigned uniform, vehicles, and equipment in accordance with departmental policy and procedures;<br />&#8226; Attends ongoing training classes as required.<br />&#8226; Participates in community relations projects as required.<br />&#8226; Performs other related duties as assigned. 
<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<br />High school diploma or equivalent; Associate&#8217;s degree or two (2) years college coursework preferred; valid Georgia Driver&#8217;s license US citizen; at least 21 years of age; meet Code Enforcement Certification requirements; successful completion of the pre-employment process which includes oral interview, background check, criminal records and traffic history check, medical and drug screening, polygraph evaluation, and/or voice stress, valid State of Georgia Driver&#8217;s License; equivalent combination of education and experience.<br />COMPENSATION: Very competitive compensation package offered depending upon qualifications.
