The Riverdale Centre for the Arts, Business and Leisure Services will serve as the crown jewel of the Riverdale Town Center, a new multiuse development that will include commercial, public and residential components. The Riverdale Centre, slated to open in October 2010, is a 42,000 sq/ft green facility that will feature an arts studio, a dance/aerobics studio, a game area, a 5,0000 sq/ft. multi-purpose meeting room, a board room, a large gymnasium with a stage, a suspended indoor walking track, a fitness room, a warming kitchen and 3,000 sq/ft of formal meeting rooms that extend to an outdoor covered patio. <br /><br />In the near future, city leaders are hoping to attract a full service hotel adjacent to the Riverdale Centre to increase opportunities for tourism. It is their desire to develop a public/private partnership with the potential town center hotel to attract small meetings, reunions and conventions to Riverdale. The Sales and Catering Coordinator will assist the Centre Manager and the Director with general office duties, administrative support, sales, catering/event coordination and implementation of polices and standard procedures. <br /></div>

<div>Responsibilities:<br />The candidate will be responsible for:<br /> Maintaining a professional appearance<br /> Coordinating all details for clients, including food and beverage, AV equipment,<br />entertainment, themes, etc<br /> Must be able to demonstrate precise attention to detail<br /> Assisting in implementing the sales strategy as set by the Centre manager and Director, and in association with the contracted banqueting caterers; including strategies for encouraging repeat business and up-selling<br /> Developing monthly sales leads and meeting monthly sales goals<br /> Have the ability to multi-task within a busy office environment<br /> Coordinate events by providing guidance on responsible liquor sales, compliance of room set up with all health and safety guidelines, liaison with caterers and advice on policies and procedures, and finally to ensure security of the building/site at the end of an event<br />Answer phones, convey messages in a clear, concise and professional manner<br />Provide information regarding services for catered events<br />Verify information and resolve routine problems<br />Conduct market research for the purpose of contract completion<br />Maintain accurate records, facility schedule, billing and file management<br />Attend weekly client meetings, schedule appointments for future events<br />Prepare all catering contracts and distribution to clients and staff<br />Follow-up on events to include satisfaction surveys and phone calls<br />Effectively communicate policies and procedures to clients.</div>
<p>Requirements:<br />The ideal candidate will have a hospitality-related background. A minimum of a high school diploma is required with three (3) years of sales coordination, catering sales experience, sales negotiation, record keeping, administrative experience, which should include data entry, budgeting; equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The candidate must have worked in an office environment and have the ability to plan, organize and multi-task. In addition, the candidate must have excellent communication and writing skills to be able to provide information and guidance to the client in order to obtain accurate event and catering information. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The jobholder must be flexible in terms of working hours as business demands can often change at the last minute. Evening and weekend work will be required.

<p>This position is responsible for providing support for city-sponsored events such as Barefoot in the Park, concerts, movies, 3rd of July, New Year&#8217;s Eve, etc. Duties will include preparation, maintenance, and clean-up of city facilities and grounds; operating sound and lighting equipment; a great deal of customer service contacts; coordination with other staff assigned to the event, helping insure the safety and security of buildings and equipment; keeping a clean and safe workplace; and other duties as may be assigned. 
<p>This is a part-time job with sporadic call-ins. Hours will vary week to week, month to month, and will be based on the number and type of events scheduled. There are no guaranteed hours per pay period, and there will be months when no activities are scheduled. Most activities occur during evening hours and on weekends. 
<p>A High School diploma, state-issued GED, or equivalent is required. Additional post-secondary education is preferred. Previous work experience in event planning, event set-up duties, facility maintenance, or customer service is preferred. Must be able to work individually with only general supervision, and work with others involved in the events. 
<p>Hiring range is $10.01-$11.06 per hour, based on qualifications.
