Property Appraiser IV - 1233

Annual Salary Range: $36,492 - $59,304
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conducts appraisals of real and/or personal property by using cost, market, and the income approaches to value; receives appeal package, logs in, and arranges initial meeting with attorney(s), taxpayers, and agents to gather information; researches case history; measures, lists and sketches new and untaxed properties; reviews appraisal appeals and makes recommendations for value, including verifying field work, internal and external factors, and reviewing codes; defends values before the owner, the Board of Equalization and Superior Court; re-appraises properties as assigned and maintains and updates property records; reviews and adjusts parcels that are subject to a zoning change; completes reports and projects; assists in the training of other Property Appraisers and support staff.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business or Public Administration and two years of experience in the appraisal field; or high school diploma or GED and six years of experience in the appraisal field. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must provide documented evidence (e.g. certificate) showing successful completion of the Georgia Appraiser IV examination. Must successfully complete at least 40 hours of approved staff appraisal training every two years. May be required to provide own transportation and vehicle insurance to perform appraisal work.
