FLSA STATUS: Exempt - Executive
CLASSIFICATION: Regular Non-Merit
SALARY: SO5 
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes; subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance. 

Purpose of Job

The purpose of this job is to manage the operations of the assigned division of the Sheriff's Office.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing the daily operations of the division; supervising, training and evaluating assigned staff; formulating departmental policies and procedures; assisting in the development of departmental goals; researching, interpreting, and applying laws; developing and implementing programs and projects; developing and monitoring the division's budget; and performing related duties as assigned.

Job Related Requirements 

Work schedule:  8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday, with occasional nights and weekends. 

May be required to work on religious holidays. 

Regular and predictable attendance is required. 

Must work cooperatively with others. 

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. 

Emergency Position
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related discipline with six years of law enforcement or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  

Must possess current POST certification as set forth in the Georgia Mandate Law Enforcement Training Act/Peace Officer's Standards and Training Act.

Requires ability to meet and maintain current certification requirements set forth in the Georgia Mandate Law Enforcement Training Act/Peace Officer's Standards and Training Act. 

Four years of supervisory experience is required.  

Must possess a valid driver's license.
