This position is responsible for providing clerical support to the Utilities Department.
MAJOR DUTIES
Performs all clerical and secretarial duties for the department.
Performs duties of Superintendent in his absence, such as prioritizing tasks, making decisions, and responding to employee and/or customer issues.
Provides administrative assistance to the Superintendent by composing and disseminating information to staff.
Resolves customer complaints, billing inquiries, and meter maintenance requests.
Reviews and approves payments; monitors expenditures under some budgetary accounts.
Assists with purchasing department materials, supplies, and tools; writes and maintains purchase orders.
Issues work orders, wiring permits, irrigation permits, re-reads, and meter maintenance requests.
Maintains gas consumption records for all city-owned vehicles; enters employee name, vehicle, and department information to database; programs all vehicle keys.
Maintains records of department capital purchases; monitors expenditures for budgetary compliance and timely project completion.
Answers phones, directs calls, and provides information as requested
Assists with the development of administrative policies and procedures for the department.
Composes and types bids, forms, and correspondence for the superintendent.
Prepares and maintains inventory records and files for the Gas and Light departments.
Completes and submits required reports to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division, and the Public Service Commission.
Answers after-hours emergency calls for utilities services; notifies Superintendent and appropriate personnel.
