As a Building Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents' and businesses' safety and well-being by inspecting commercial structures and residential, single-family detached structures for compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.

YOUR NEW ROLE:

You will conduct daily field inspections of residential, commercial, and public facility construction projects while interacting with the public and explaining technical information to technically and non-technically trained individuals.

You will verify field conditions for compliance with approved plans, specifications, engineered drawings, permit requirements, and plan approval conditions.

You will issue written correction comments with code references when inspections are failed or partially approved.

You will be investigating, evaluating, documenting/photographing, and posting stop work orders on properties that violate building codes and City Ordinances.

This position does require work in the field and in the office environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • ICC Residential and Commercial Inspector certifications required or qualifications set forth in O.C.G.A Section 8-2-26.1 (a)(2) and 8-2-26 (g)(1)(B).
  • Extensive working knowledge of building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes
  • 5+ years of experience with the Interpretation of codes in the field providing code-compliant solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

ICC Inspector certifications in multiple trades
