Listing Summary

The City is seeking a city planner to provide administrative and technical work regarding the City's housing and planning programs. This position is under the general direction of the City Manager.

Major Duties

Meets with developers to review plans and plats for compliance with the City's development regulations and zoning codes.

Answers questions regarding adopted codes and ordinances related to procedures on development plans, zoning applications, and land use; in charge  of the enforcement of related ordinances.

Develops short and long range plans, prepares data for studies, reports and recomendations; coordinates activities with other departments and agencies.

Insures that planning and zoning codes are kept up to date.

Applies for and administers various housing development and related grants.

Coordinates the City's building inspection and code enforcement program. 

A wide range of duties are required and assigned to this position.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field. American Institute of Certified Planners certification or obtain within first year of employment. Three (3) years of progressive municipal planning experience. A valid state drivers license or ability to obtain one.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary: $50,310.76, which will be reviewed after 6 months of employment. Health insurance, disability insurance,  wellness program, retirement, vacation and sick leave, 12 paid holidays, and funeral leave.
