The Jackson County Water & Sewerage Authority (“Authority”) is seeking a full-time Locator/Water Distribution System Operator in the Water Services Department.

The primary duties will be locating water and sewer mains, water service lines and sewer laterals with back up to the Water Distribution Operators as needed.  This is a skilled hands-on job requiring knowledge of piping and pumping systems involving the efficient operation of the Authority’s extensive water system. Incumbents continually ensure regulatory compliance with the Authority’s public water supply permit.  A High School Diploma or GED is required. The ideal candidate should have One (1) or more years’ experience in the field of public water operations. The applicant must be a Certified Water Distribution Operator in the State of Georgia, or have ability to obtain the certification within 18 months of employment with the Authority.  Applicants with related experience, such as plumbing or utility construction, may be considered.

Applicant must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class C) at start of employment and have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. A “Class A” CDL license is required within two-years of start date. The applicant must submit to a comprehensive criminal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
