Staff Accountant/Purchasing

Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta, 30 minutes north of Columbus, and home to Callaway Resort and Gardens and FDR State Park, is accepting applications for a Staff Accountant with purchasing experience. This full-time position is responsible for reconciliation of bank statements and general ledger accounts, assisting with preparing financial statements, assisting with the annual audit, assisting with budget preparation and analysis, administering credit card accounts, overseeing fleet fuel management program, purchasing goods and services for many county departments using state contracts, preparation of price quotes, electronic purchase orders, invitations to bid, requests for proposal, and requests for qualifications, ensuring compliance with established state and local purchasing procedures, maintenance of  vendor listings, orders, and receiving, and assisting the CFO with other financial reports and duties.

Minimum qualifications include a four-year degree in accounting or related field, at least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work, knowledge of fund accounting, basic procurement procedures, GAAP, GASB, computer skills, excellent customer service skills, and possession of a valid driver’s licenses.

Starting rate of pay is DOQ plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
