Community Development Technician

This position functions as a central point of contact for the Community Development Department, which includes Planning and Zoning, Business License, Community and Economic Development, Building Inspection, and Code Enforcement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Community Development Technician advises general contractors and the public on construction permits, performs routine and technical work, both at the counter and in the back office; answers inquiries related to building codes, remodeling and repair requirements, planning and development regulations, permit procedures and schedules building inspection and community center rentals; tracks and processes business license applications; issues building permits; calculates and collects fees.


High School diploma or GED; Two (2) years of experience working as a permit clerk, administrative assistant, customer service representative, or office manager for a Planning and Zoning or Community Development Department or similar agency;  or comparable private sector employer.
