The Heart of Georgia Regional Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Community Development Planner. This position is responsible for assistance to local governments in areas of community planning, economic development, hazard mitigation, personnel management, environmental issues, transportation and grant preparation and administration. This is a professional entry level position that engages in professional local government issues involving administration, project management, and developing innovative solutions in coordination with member governments. It involves the application of knowledge of research and planning in matters of government, public administration, urban design, historic preservation, transportation, housing, economics or related matters.
The Community Development Planner should, at a minimum, have a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning or related field from an accredited college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or Urban Planning is preferred.
