Director, Retirement Field Services and Defined Contribution Retirement Programs

The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and supervise staff engaged in conducting meetings and seminars on both defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans offered by the Association and market such plans and explain plan provisions to municipal government officials.

 

 

Some of the duties include:

 

            Conducts meetings with Association members to discuss retirement plan provisions and benefits.

 

            Writes and coordinates the publishing of employee retirement benefit handbooks, promotional brochures, benefits packets and other materials.

 

            Makes marketing presentations to municipal officials to explain the retirement plans and encourage participation of their organizations in the defined benefit and defined contribution retirement programs.

 

            Counsels employees of member cities concerning their retirement and life and group health insurance benefits.

 

            Provides technical assistance to personnel administrators, employee benefits managers and others regarding the interpretation of various retirement plan provisions.

 

            Analyzes retirement plan and develops recommendations and cost projections for plan changes and improvements; presents approved changes to municipal officials.

 

            Plans and conducts regional program workshops.

 

            Responds to inquiries and questions regarding employee benefits coverage and provisions of the retirement, life and group health insurance plans.

 

            Assists with the preparation of retirement plans and amendments, determines administrative fee tier and coordinates contribution increases with plan changes.

 

            Calculates estimates of retirement plan distributions for employees.


Minimum qualifications 

           

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, employee benefits or related field required; (Master’s degree preferred) ten years of experience in personnel administration with emphasis in retirement benefits, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
