Performs highly skilled mechanical work involved in repairing all types of county vehicles and construction equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
Diagnoses problems with vehicles or equipment; determines parts needed and assures that order is placed for parts not in stock.
Completes repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles ensuring that work performed meets description of work requested in job work sheets; tests and ensures that equipment or vehicle is in working order.
Performs general overhaul and repair work to a variety of equipment ranging from automobiles to motor graders to include; inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary units and related parts, repairs engines and overhauls transmissions, differentials, front and rear assemblies, performs metal work by cutting and welding, repairs and paints automobile and truck bodies, repairs and overhauls air compressors, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and other specialized related equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Air Tools Hand Tools A/C Recycler and Recovery
Tire Balancer & Changer Air Compressor Pressure Testers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
All candidates to fill a vacant position in this classification must submit to and pass a drug-screening test after meeting the following minimum requirements:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED; and,
Two to four years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License.
