Performs skilled mechanical work including preventive maintenance and minor repairs to county vehicles and equipment; assists in maintaining the stockroom and assuring that tools, materials and other mechanical equipment are on hand and in place.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
Completes repairs and maintenance of county trucks, automobiles, tractors, mowers, emergency service vehicles and other similar equipment to include; adjusts, repairs and/or replaces brakes, tires, fuel, electrical and cooling systems, tunes and overhauls engines, inspects vehicles for safety, and completes road testing of repaired vehicles.
Performs basic cleaning duties to maintain orderliness of shop area; assists shop and office manager in inventory control.
Assists in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.
Repairs tires and operates service truck.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
All candidates to fill a vacant position in this classification must meet the following minimum requirements:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED; and,
Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License.
