POSITION TITLE:  Emergency Management Director FY18-32          DEPARTMENT:  Fire
ENTRY SALARY:   $29.69 per hour, plus benefits                              PAY GRADE22
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for directing the county's emergency management functions. Coordinates strategic planning and preparedness activities with local stakeholders; develops, plans, and conducts preparedness activities related to emergency management of natural and/or man-made disasters or other large-scale emergency incidents. Provides management of EMA staff and volunteer personnel; supervises, guides, and directs work activities; develops, administers, and implements training and certification activities for volunteer groups. Plans, prepares, and oversees response and mitigation activities; conducts threat assessments; assists the Fire Chief in developing, implementing, and evaluating the local emergency operations plan; ensures plan meets state and federal requirements; communicates plan to county officials and departments, municipalities, community groups, and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. State of Georgia Certified Emergency Manager certification required.
