Fayette County is seeking a Lead Personal Property Appraiser in its Tax Assessor's Office.  This is a full time position with benefits.  This position supervises and participates in the appraisal of personal property.  This position supervises and participates in the appraisal of personal property. Major duties include but are not limited to: Leads, directs, trains, assists, and supervises personnel engaged in the appraisal of personal property; Supervises the compiling of the personal property digest by establishing and implementing procedures for discovery, cataloguing, and appraising personal property; Supervises the compiling of the mobile home digest, including reviewing sales ratio studies and determining adjustments to the Mobile Home Valuation Schedule; Conducts and supervises the review of annual applications for Freeport Inventory for approval/denial by the Board of Tax Assessors; Processes and supervises the administration of appeals or personal property, mobile home appeals, and motor vehicle appeals; defends valuations; Conducts and supervises audits of unreturned new personal property accounts and of existing accounts; Conducts and supervise audits or unreturned new personal property accounts and existing accounts; Prepares monthly presentation of personal property issues to include recommended audits and completed audits for approval by the Board of Tax Assessors; Processes and supervises abatement/refund requests for personal property, mobile homes, and motor vehicles; Conducts and supervises disaster assessments; Administers personal property Leasehold Tax Abatements.  Requires knowledge of personal property appraisal practices and techniques, the appeals process, market, cost, and income valuation techniques and skill in reviewing and interpreting financial documents and accounting records.  Requires skill in researching, interpreting, and analyzing complex data and other useful information pertinent to the cataloging and valuation of personal property, mobile home, and motor vehicles, public and interpersonal relations and in oral and written communication.  Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent and one to two years in a similar position.  Must possess an Appraiser III Certification form the Georgia Department of Revenue.  Must possess a valid Georgia drivers' license.  Minimum salary $49,423.35.  To review the job description and submit an application please visit the county website www.fayettecountyga.gov and click on Employment.  Please submit a resume in Excel format which can be attached to the online application.  Only applications and resumes submitted through the online application process will be consiidered.
