POSITION:                       LEAD MAINTENANCE WORKER

SALARY RANGE:        $15.58 - $25.70

Job Summary:  Under general direction, supervises and performs skilled and complex journeyman level maintenance and repair work in one or more of the following; streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm lines and excavated trenches. Performs installation, repair and maintenance work functions pertaining to roads, streets and storm water systems. Supervises a small crew of unskilled and semi-skilled workers assigned on a per job basis. Employee is on the Critical Work Force Category 2 and must be able to be on call on a 24-hour basis.
Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma, supplemented by trade school and four years of journeyman level work experience in one or more of the skilled crafts, including two years’ experience as a foreman/lead person or supervisor; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess knowledge of operating heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, mini excavator, tandem and single axle dump trucks, crew and utility trucks, other equipment and hand tools that may be utilized on roads and storm drain lines. Must possess sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, to enable the employee to efficiently function in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time with exposure to varying weather conditions, traffic, equipment, chemicals, solvents, etc. Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 75 lbs. Must submit to a Motor Vehicle and Criminal History record check. Mist possess a Class B Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL). Ability to obtain GA Safety Council Flagger’s license within one (1) year of employment.
Note:  During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
