The following documents must be presented in order to receive an application.

  • Valid Georgia Class "C" Driver's License or higher (No class "CP" or "D")
  • Three (3) year state certified DMV driving history (No more than six (6) months old)

This position is responsible for operating a wide variety of assigned construction equipment utilized in the construction, repair and maintenance of city streets, right-of-ways, storm water drainage systems, retention basins, bridges, facilities, properties and other sites under city obligation.  Operates a variety of assigned light and medium motorized equipment including small and large bull dozers, loaders, back hoes, track hoes, excavators, concrete curb machines, bobcats, etc.  Performs pre-trip inspections to assigned equipment or vehicle.  Performs various laboring and skilled, unskilled or semi-skilled tasks at work sites when not operating equipment.  Performs traffic flagging duties at project sites to ensure a safe work environment.  Performs related duties.   



Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Skill in the operation of motorized equipment as applied to public construction projects. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of assigned motorized equipment, including small and large bull dozers, loaders, back hoes, track hoes, excavators, dump trucks, asphalt spreaders, concrete curb machines, motor graders, bobcats, etc. Skill in comprehending and following safety rules and regulations, training and coordinating the work of others and communicating effectively with others. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position associated with having had a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years. Possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Miscellaneous Information

Work is performed while standing, sitting, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. Frequently lift light and heavy objects, use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and distinguish between shades of color. Work is performed outdoors. Exposure to cold and inclement weather, chemicals, noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as goggles or gloves.
