This position is responsible for managing the laboratory quality assurance program in order to meet established standards of the Police Department. Develops policies and procedures for laboratory quality control, and maintains quality control manual. Facilitates surveys and develops plans for improvement. Coordinates all audits, presentations, and inspections. Coordinates training of all laboratory personnel. Evaluates processes for efficiency and develops improvement initiatives. Administers the laboratory’s standard operating procedures, safety manuals, and centralized training records for laboratory staff. Monitors maintenance of laboratory equipment. Verifies training records of all laboratory personnel. Maintains laboratory library. Maintains supply of laboratory supplies. Performs related duties.
Knowledge and level of competency associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, associated with having had a similar position for three years. Possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license. Knowledge of laboratory auditing procedures and standards. Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. Skill in organization and prioritizing tasks. Skill in the analysis of problems and development and implementation of solutions. Sill in oral and written communication.
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, utilizes the sense of smell and distinguishes between shades of color. The work is typically performed in a laboratory. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, human body fluids, contagious or infectious diseases and irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
