The function of Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is to promote and enhance the quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners, and businesses of Gwinnett County. The Department accomplishes its mission through programs and services that encourage high quality development as well as maintenance and revitalization of existing neighborhoods. The Department consists of the Administration Division, Planning Division, and the Development Division.
The Planning Manager is assigned to the Long Range Planning section within the Planning Division. The position is responsible for overseeing the preparation of the County's comprehensive plans, plan studies, and future development maps; undertaking planning projects, research and analysis; advising the Division Director and Director on planning-related matters; and coordinating with state and regional planning agencies, among other duties. In addition, this position provides managerial and supervisory support, staff evaluation and budget preparation for the Long Range Planning Section.
- Bachelor's Degree in City Planning, Political Science, Public Administration, Geography, or a closely related field; and
- Five (5) years of planning experience, including two years of supervisory experience;
- or, and equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above.
