Traffic signal Analyst

The following documents must be presented to receive an application:

  • Valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License (No Class CP or D)
  • Three (3) year state certified DMV driving history (No more than six (6) months old)

This position performs technical duties in the repair and maintenance of traffic signals.  Guidelines include the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Georgia Department of Transportation specifications, city traffic signal specifications and city ordinances.  This position inspects, troubleshoots, repairs and tests traffic signal control devices, advance warning flashers and school flasher time clocks in the field and in the shop.  Creates signal and coordination for all traffic signals; makes timing changes as needed.  Installs traffic signal equipment, cabinets, poles, signal heads, battery back-up systems, conduits, pull boxes and components, microprocessors, relays, switches, fuses and other cabinet parts.  Performs annual maintenance on traffic signal monitors.  Maintains accurate manual and computerized records of all preventative maintenance, annual monitor testing, repairs and equipment installed.  Operates a bucket truck.  Responds to emergency repair calls.  Performs related duties.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and competency associated having a high school education. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the principles relevant to the duties of the position. Possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license. Skill in the use of computers and job related software. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports and in oral and written communication.

Miscellaneous Information

The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom or outdoors, occasionally in cold and inclement weather. The work is performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, vest, etc. The employee lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and distinguishes between shades of color.
