Summary: This position is responsible for providing assistance in all aspects of SPLOST projects and federal and state grants and to maintain accurate accounting records for all Glynn County financial transactions.
Essential Job Functions: Maintains current and accurate balance of the general ledger; analyzes accounts for the nature and accuracy of transactions and prepares journal entries. Maintains accounting records for all County funds. Posts all grant account transactions and requests reimbursements from federal and state agencies. Prepares monthly and annual statements of revenue and expenditures for inclusion in management reports. Prepares supporting schedules for all SPLOST and grant accounts to use on their review and work papers. Prepares special reports and financial analysis at the request of management. Assists in preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Provides technical assistance to other departments by setting up or proposing improvements to their financial management procedures. Monitors revenues and expenditures. Performs a variety of general accounting/bookkeeping functions such as preparing journal entries, balancing accounts, calculating data, entering/posting financial data, balancing/reconciling reports, researching financial discrepancies, correcting errors, maintaining financial records, and other accounting functions. Prepares and completes various forms, reports, correspondence, grant reports, payroll reports, account history reports, schedules, or other documents. Coordinates with Budget Analyst to analyze current year departmental budget to identify potential over over-budget problems. Maintains confidentiality of departmental issues and documentation. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes governmental accounting, general accounting or grant management. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Software.A valid Driver’s License is required. CPA License is preferred.
