Lifeguard (Police)

The following certificates must be presented to receive an application:

 

  • Current Lifeguarding and First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate or CPR Lifeguarding Certificate

 

All interviews will be in two (2) parts
 

  • Verbal office interview
  • Swimming proficiency interview

This position is responsible for the safety of patrons in the pool area.  Monitor the conduct of persons in the pool, the pool deck and restroom areas.  Enforce all pool rules and regulations.  Maintain daily count of pool patron attendance.  Administer first aid and CPR in an emergency.  Report all accidents and incidents.  Know and be able to implement the facility Emergency Action Plan.  Remove all swimmers from the pool when there is evidence of a storm.  Responsible for water and pool area maintenance. Provide patrons with accurate information regarding all sport activities.  Assist with all pool and class duties.    Participate in weekly conditioning and training sessions.  Perform other duties as assigned.

 


 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Recover 10-lb. object in 10 ft of water with 30-ft approach. Tow 10-lb. object 50 yards with inverted breaststroke kick. Tow 10-lb. object with scissor kick. Swim 300 yards front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Tread water 2 minutes supporting 10-lb. object with both hands. Must possess and demonstrate competency in all certifications. Must keep CPR and First Aid up to date. Must have the ability to work with general public, co-workers and supervisors and maintain a pleasant and professional personality. Ability to enforce all pool area rules and regulations.

Miscellaneous Information

Work environment is in outdoor conditions and extreme temperatures. Work with hazardous chemicals and pool conditions.
