The City of Stone Mountain is seeking qualified applicants for a certified police officer with a strong community-oriented mindset.  Stone Mountain is part of the metro Atlanta area, but is experiencing a growing sense of community.  We seek officers who understand and appreciate such a working environment. 
 
Minimum Requirements:  Applicant must be a legal U.S. citizen at least 21 years of age.  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Applicant must have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and have no prior convictions by any State or by the Federal Government of any crime the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a Federal or State Prison institution, nor have been convicted of sufficient misdemeanors so as to establish a pattern of abuse of the law. Candidate must have been previously certified by Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training as a Peace Officer in good standing or a recent graduate of Basic Mandate.

Additional Requirements:  Applicants must successfully pass a medical examination, drug screen, psychological screen, and a thorough background check.  Background investigation will include criminal and driving histories, work history, personal and professional references, and credit history.  Applicant must be proficient in the use of a Windows-based personal computer.

Job Duties: This position is for a police officer, reporting to the shift commander and includes general law enforcement and patrol duties. The police officer is assigned to a shift and is responsible for patrolling the City of Stone Mountain for the purpose of detecting and preventing crime, responding to citizens' calls for service, and enforcing the laws of the State of Georgia and the local ordinances of the City of Stone Mountain.
