Full-Time Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker

The Building and Grounds Worker will perform maintenance, repair, and grounds keeping duties for the City of Austell Threadmill Complex. The following duties are normal for this position:
Performs general maintenance and repair work for Threadmill Complex; including installing park benches and fences, replacing light bulbs and fixtures, trash collection and maintaining restrooms.
Performs grounds keeping and landscape duties throughout the Threadmill complex, parking lot, and the surrounding areas; prunes plants, trees and shrubs; mows lawns; blows leaves and walkways; snow removal, applies pesticides and weed control chemicals; spreads mulch; rakes leaves, and clears debris.
Collects trash, litter and debris and transports to appropriate receptacles/dumpster sites.
Operates a variety of equipment, hand and power tools in the performance of assigned park maintenance activities.
Assist with setting up of Courtroom.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, supplemented by up to one (1) year previous experience performing landscape maintenance work, and maintenance work preferably associated with building/mechanical trades OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills, and abilities for the job.
This includes working knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment and materials. Requires ability to lift and carry 80 pounds, i.e. heavy boxes, supplies, etc. ; ability to move heavy furniture and equipment; ability to climb stairs and climb ladders to change light bulbs, paint etc; withstand outdoor temperature changes in performance of landscaping duties. Applicant must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort.
