Part-Time Parks Maintenance Worker

The Parks Maintenance Worker will perform maintenance, repair, and grounds keeping duties for Austell parks, athletic fields, and recreation facilities.  The following duties are normal for this position:
Performs general maintenance and repair work for park buildings, facilities, equipment and structures; including painting signs and facilities; installing and repairing park signs and fixtures; installing park benches and fences, replacing light bulbs and fixtures, maintaining restrooms, repairing concession equipment, transporting and assembling recreation equipment, and maintaining plumbing fixtures.
Performs grounds keeping and landscape duties throughout the parks, on athletic fields, parking lots, and trails and the surrounding areas; prunes plants, trees and shrubs; mows lawns; blows leaves and walkways; applies pesticides and weed control chemicals; spreads mulch;  rakes leaves, and clears debris.
Inspects playground equipment and other recreational facilities, picnic tables; determines condition and compiles records of findings; repairs and/or replaces damages parts; ensures safe conditions; and submits reports of unsafe conditions.
Collects trash, litter and debris and transports to appropriate receptacles/dumpster sites.
Operates a variety of equipment, and hand and power tools in the performance of assigned park maintenance activities. 
Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED, supplemented by up to one (1) year previous experience performing landscape maintenance work, OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides  the requisite knowledge skills, and abilities for the job.  Applicant must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.  Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort.
