Augusta, Georgia is actively recruiting for two Deputy Administrators. If you are an experienced local government management professional with a passion for staff leadership, organizational development, team building, problem solving, and customer service, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
 
The Deputy Administrators play an integral role in providing assistance to the Administrator in the overall operations of 16 departments within our government. The Deputy Administrator for Finance, Administration, and Organizational Effectiveness oversees the following departments: Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Procurement, Central Services, Fire, E911, and Transit. The Deputy Administrator for Operations, Infrastructure, and Development oversees the following departments: Planning, Environmental Services, Engineering, Richmond County Correctional Institute, Housing and Community Development, Recreation and Parks, Animal Services, and Utilities.

Deputy Administrators provide strategic direction and leadership to their respective teams, assist the Administrator in developing policy recommendations for the Mayor and Commission, implement programs, identify and establish strategic goals, and assist with fiscal planning and budget accountability. They will establish relationships with elected and appointed officials, non-profit partners, state and federal agencies, the private sector, and the general public. The Deputy Administrators will represent the Administrator in various settings and serve in her absence, as needed.

A qualified candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in a local government organization (preferably in the top manager’s office), of which three (3) years must be in a managerial position. A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field of study is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.  ICMA Credentialed Manager is a plus, though not required.
