Maintenance Technician, III, II, or I
 
Under direct supervision performs pump, mechanical and electrical trades work in the maintenance and repair of water treatment plants equipment and machinery, dams and transmission systems. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, sketches and drawings of equipment and assemblies and plans (based on level of experience).  May be assigned to lead, coordinate activities and/or train workers engaged in maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures and grounds.  Incumbents work on the maintenance team and report to the Maintenance Superintendent.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tasks and responsibilities which are common to the Maintenance Technician include:
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, and tests machinery and equipment.  Performs preventative maintenance and completes work orders.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems with supervisors and other maintenance workers.
  • Repairs defective machinery, equipment, plumbing and chemical feed systems.
  • Constructs, installs and maintains piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment on process chemical feeds systems, process controls and treatment facility.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility.
  • Performs grounds and landscaping maintenance at plant and intake facilities.
  • Operates a cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other structures.
  • On call for plant operations after hours as needed and as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the practices, methods, tools and materials of the mechanical maintenance trades.
  • Knowledge of principles of the operation of pumps, motors and related plant equipment.
  • Familiarity with the practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical trades.
  • Familiarity with the practices, methods, tools and materials of the building trades.
  • Ability to assist with the diagnosis, location and correction of operating trouble in mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Skill in use of a computer for Email communication, internet search and preventative maintenance system tasks.
Minimum Qualifications Required (Maintenance Technician III):
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.  Vocational/technical training in mechanical maintenance/repair, electrical maintenance/repair or closely related field preferred and (2) two year of experience in utilities maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensing Requirements:
A Georgia Driver’s License is required.  A good driving record must be maintained to continue employment with the Authority
 
Minimum Qualifications Required (Maintenance Technician II):
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.   Vocational/technical training in mechanical maintenance/repair, electrical maintenance/repair or closely related field preferred and four (4) years of experience in utilities maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensing Requirements:
A Georgia Driver’s License is required.  A good driving record must be maintained to continue employment with the Authority
 
Minimum Qualifications Required (Maintenance Technician I):
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in mechanical maintenance/repair, electrical maintenance/repair or closely related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in utilities pump-mechanical maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensing Requirements:
Requires a Georgia Driver’s License with a good driving history; a good driving record must be maintained to continue employment with the Authority.
           
Pay Grade 23: $31,847 - $46,177       Maintenance Technician III
Pay Grade 28: $40,829 - $63,284       Maintenance Technician II
Pay Grade 32: $49,627 - $76,922       Maintenance Technician I
