Performs technical and advisory work in the conservation of soil and water, while partnering with the Upper Ocmulgee River Soil & Water Conservation District.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and applicable laws including planning and assigning work and reporting problems to supervisor.

Provides technical assistance to individuals and groups of farmers in the development of soil and water conservation plans, which includes the selection and application of crop rotations, winter cover crops, and pasture development and maintenance.

Assists in the application and maintenance of conservation practices on farms and performs periodic reviews of farm plans.

Promotes all USDA Programs that will assist customers to adopt & implement Resource Management Systems using programs such as; Environmental Quality Incentive, Conservation Stewardship, etc.

Perform duties in a manner which promotes and support Civil Rights policies regarding personnel and regulations to deliver NRCS programs and services without regards to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status or physical or mental disability.

Ensures that farm plans meet the requirement of the Food Security Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act.

Organizes, develops, implements and maintains short and long-term agreements when farming operation have many conservation needs to address.

Advises urban and rural landowners of soil and water conservation techniques and how to reduce erosion, sedimentation, and flood damage.

Plans and installs conservation measures such as alternative watering systems, heavy use area protection, critical area treatments, and designing prescribed grazing systems, wildlife food plots, etc.

Maintains office records and files via computer system; prepares and submits various reports as required.

Keep customers informed of latest tools and technology such as USDA Client Gateway, etc.
