The Toccoa-Stephens County Probation Department is accepting applications for the position of a Chief Probation Officer. 
The purpose of this position is to perform administrative and technical tasks and to supervise the processing of all misdemeanor cases in Stephens County. 
Tasks include but are not limited to meeting with probationers, collecting fines, fees, scheduling community service work, completing administrative duties and performing related accounting tasks. 
Preferred initial qualifications for the director are:  the applicant must include at least one employed person who is responsible for the direct supervision of probation officers.  This supervisor shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience in one or a combination of the following: corrections counseling, parole officer, or probation officer.  In its discretion, MPOU may approve experience not listed above. 
Minimum qualifications for this position include; must be twenty-one (21) years of age, have an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice with four years of law enforcement experience as a certified peace officer or jurisdictional equivalent at the time of appointment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.  Must be or have the ability to become licensed to conduct drug screens.  Applicant must complete a criminal background check with no felony convictions.
