The City of Dahlonega is accepting applications for a highly motivated individual for a Main Street/DDA Program Coordinator position. This work involves production and support for activities and programs of the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority/Main Street Program and its Director as well as the City Manager.
The position is responsible for coordinating assigned operations of the city's Main Street Program and Downtown Development Authority. It provides support for the Main Street Program to include administrative support, coordination of select projects, special events, volunteer management activities and any other responsibilities deemed appropriate.
Knowledge of Main Street Program policies and procedures, principles and practices of public relations, event planning, budget management and volunteer administration.
Skills in cultivating professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders, problem-solving, use of computers and job-related software programs, researching and preparing related reports, interpersonal relations, oral and written communication, and graphic design.
Possess the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and ability to analyze situations and recommend a quick, effective and reasonable course of action. Ability to analyze and interpret data; interpret policies and procedures; and exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with vendors, property and business owners, and the public.
Technical skills preferred include document design software, Excel, Wix and Word Press website maintenance software, social media management and computer experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in public administration, marketing, journalism, or related field is desired. Desired experience includes working closely with volunteers, volunteer organizations, social service agencies, local service clubs, in a Main Street program, or in the marketing/promotions/communications profession. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must possess a Georgia Class “C” Driver’s License.
