Summary: The Engineering Technician will perform various engineering and technical functions in support  of the county, which may include conducting surveys, collecting civil engineering data, coordinating right-of-way issues, creating computer drawings for use by county engineering staff, or other tasks.

Essential Job Functions: The primary responsibilities of the Engineering Technician shall be relative to the survey crew daily operations. The Technician will assist in the collection of data in the field via use of survey instruments, interpretation of survey plats and construction drawings, research of GIS maps, deeds, and plats. Data collected in the field will be processed by computer programs to produce plats, topographic maps, drainage plans, survey stake outs, and construction plans. Assists Public Works, other departments, and citizens with identification of roads right-of-ways. Frequently works with Tree Board liaison to identify ownership of trees and with the Construction Inspectors to help check for quality assurance and quality control on construction projects. 

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Architectural Drafting, Civil Drafting, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or a closely related field; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Architectural Drafting, Civil Drafting, Site Inspection, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
