The purpose of this classification is to provide clerical support to the department and customer assistance to taxpayers.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Provides customer service to taxpayers: provides assistance to taxpayers on the phone and in the office, giving them the information that they are seeking; assists taxpayers with filing appeals based on notices that were generated and mailed by the department.
Assists in processing appeals filed by taxpayers: batches, reads, keys and assembles appeal packets for appraisers.
Provides support to the processes and work of the division and the department as a whole: runs reports, prints, files and audits notices and agendas for the department; prints map changes sent from GIS and prepares documents for appraiser.
Performs general clerical duties: Sorts and directs mail, photocopies, faxes, scans, files and emails correspondence, records or documents and provides assistance to managers.
Ensures proper operations of office equipment and secures repairs and maintenance, and organizes and maintains supplies and files: maintains upkeep of printers, fax machines, files and supplies; checks with office staff to ensure their personal supplies are at a sustainable level.
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in business or a related field, supplemented by two years of clerical experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
