|Forsyth County is looking for a Planning Manager for the Long Range Planning Division. The role of the Planning Manager is to supervise professional planning staff, provide oversight for the zoning administration process and direct long-range planning projects including various plan updates and ordinance amendments. This role requires working independently in a highly visible position, advising various boards on long-range planning issues, and maintaining regular contact with planning-related agencies while managing daily work activities of division staff.
Forsyth County, Georgia, is located 25 miles north of Atlanta with a population over 225,000. | Job Summary:
|This position will entail the supervision and evaluation of assigned staff; development and implementation of the division budget; preparing and making presentations for ordinance modifications before officials and the public; coordinating comprehensive plan updates and other long-range planning projects; attending monthly meetings and participating on various committees; presenting division related planning recommendations; providing information and technical assistance to applicants and the public; performing staff technical reviews and reports; managing the zoning, conditional use, sketch plat, home occupation and zoning condition amendment processes.
| Minimum Qualifications:
|Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or closely related field; supplemented by six (6) years previous experience and/or training that includes urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, site plan review, budget administration, supervision, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
AICP certification is preferred.
The successful candidate will possess planning experience and proficiency with advanced research and technical writing skills.
