Job Title: Community Risk Reduction Specialist
Department: Dawson County Emergency Services
Salary: $18.73 hourly
Status: Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
The Community Risk Reduction Specialist performs a variety of professional duties including developing and providing community risk reduction education along with awareness and injury prevention programs for schools, businesses, children, adolescents and adults.  Work is performed with considerable independence. Employee performs work in the areas of public speaking and instruction to promote safety in the community.

Job Requirements:
Applicant must possess a degree in Communications, Education, Emergency Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited two (2) year college or university plus two (2) or more years of professional, related experience in fire education, community organizing, or other related area; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to the position. Certifications: American CPR & First Aid Instructor certification, Georgia State Certified Fire Inspector I, Georgia State Certified Arson Investigator Level I (Preferred), Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800. Applicant must possess or obtain within one year of employment, certification as a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) and Georgia Public Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I with Day Care Provider. Additional requirements include the ability to communicate with the public effectively and courteously on a daily basis and utilize computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite and social media outlets.  Applicant must possess or obtain a valid Georgia Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Applicant must meet all in-house testing requirements; pass a background check and drug screening.
