Jasper, Georgia, (pop. 3,819), located on the northern edge of metropolitan Atlanta in Pickens County, is seeking an experienced professional to serve as City Manager. The position reports to the City Council. The City Manager serves as the city’s chief administrative officer, and oversees the general and enterprise operations of the city. Enterprise activities include Water, Sewer, and Solid Waste. The City Manager is responsible for leading approximately 85 employees across 7 departments, and administering an annual budget of $11,500,000.
Known as Georgia’s first mountain city and the Marble Capital of Georgia, Jasper’s small town atmosphere lends itself to a friendly, mountain experience with a growing downtown. The city’s location allows for convenient access to the amenities of both Atlanta and Chattanooga while retaining its rural charm, including many local restaurants and recreational activities.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership in either a public or private organization, familiarity with Georgia’s local funding methods, experience with managing utilities such as water and wastewater, effective communication skills, and the ability to perform in diverse settings. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study is preferred. Related work experience will be considered.
