MAINTENANCE WORKER – Town Green
Duluth Public Works Department
 
The City of Duluth, Georgia (pop. 27,000) is accepting applications for the position of full-time MAINTENANCE WORKER I in the Public Works Department. This position will be primarily the Town Green area, but can be assigned to any job in Public Works to meet the needs of the City.
 
Employees in this position perform semi-skilled manual work which is performed alone or as part of crew, involving maintenance of the City Fountain, street repair, storm drain maintenance, building and grounds maintenance, and custodial work.  Employees are required to perform heavy physical labor in all types of outdoor weather using a variety of tools and equipment. 
 
A High School diploma, state-issued GED, or equivalent is required, with additional work-skill related training/experience required.
 
Applicants with previous experience in similar public works type jobs, specifically asphalt and concrete construction and repair, operation of small to mid-size equipment (mini-excavator, mini-track hoe, bobcat, etc.) CDL Class B, and the ability to work independently are strongly preferred. Specific training/experience in any skilled trade work strongly preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, woodworking, irrigation, landscaping, asphalt, concrete, etc.)
 
All candidates are subject to a background investigation, including criminal history, driving history, drug testing, and medical exams (including drug screening.)
 
Hiring pay range is $14.36 - $17.18 per hour; ($29,931 - $35,734 annualized full-time); pay grade 15. Starting salary is based on qualifications (work experience, education, training and certifications.) May be eligible for 5% increase after 6 months once the employee demonstrates their ability to perform all job functions using all normal tools and equipment, and they have completed all required training.
