The City of Milton is looking for highly qualified individuals to serve as Firefighters/EMT/Paramedic.
The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency calls to fight/suppress fires and/or to provide advance life support at the scene. Responsibilities include responding to fire/rescue/medical emergency calls for protection of life and property, driving/operating fire apparatus, controlling/extinguishing fires, performing search/rescue, providing basic life support to sick/injured persons, and maintaining department apparatus/equipment in a state of readiness.
Typical duties include:
Responds to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, explosions, and other emergency situations
Provides for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured, both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, invasive airway management, cardiac monitoring and administration of medications.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 12 months previous experience and/or training involving firefighting and basic emergency medical care; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Basic Firefighter certification and Basic EMT Certification required. Paramedic Certification preferred. Must possess valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.
Starting pay: $40,702. Starting pay for Paramedic is $45,464 once approved by the Medical Director.
