The City of McDonough
is accepting applications for the position of Laborer in the Public Works Department. This work is manual work involving physical labor.
Major duties: Responsible for cutting grass, raking leaves, and removing trash and other debris in City rights-of-way and City property; chip limbs; patch pot holes and perform other tasks in repairing streets; maintain and repair equipment. Occasional after hour work may be required for certain City events or emergencies.
Knowledge and abilities: Ability to operate and maintain a variety of lawn maintenance equipment and tools; ability to perform heavy manual labor and lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs; ability to operate department vehicles and maintain required licenses; ability to perform minor repairs to City buildings.
Qualifications: high school diploma or GED is required; valid Georgia Driver’s License; satisfactory MVR; pass pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol test; satisfactory criminal history, some experience in related field helpful.
