Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission, a joint planning agency serving Liberty County and its 7 municipal governments, is looking for an Engineering Director. The role of the Engineering Director is to provide professional oversight and review of property development projects in the incorporated areas of Liberty County: guiding, implementing and ensuring compliance with local ordinances and regulations. This role requires working independently and as part of a team to review land development projects and involves research, analysis, plan review, reporting and communications with a variety of stakeholders including government boards and agencies. This position also routinely provides information and technical assistance to the public.
This position will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring land development projects in the jurisdiction of the Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission; ensuring project compliance with local ordinances and other applicable development regulations, administering the subdivision development process; ensuring that local ordinances are kept current with state and federal regulations; and reporting development and compliance activity to state and federal regulatory agencies. The Engineering Director also assists applicants and the public; performs staff technical reviews and reports; furnishes updates as needed for planning and development initiatives; attends meetings and participates on various committees; and makes oral presentations to the Planning Commission and the governing authorities in Liberty County. Position provides direct supervision over the inspections staff and reports to the Executive Director.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field with certification as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training; supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in engineering or land development site plan review, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
The hiring salary range for this position is $67,117-$92,522 per year DOQ.
