This is a full-time position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. 

Work schedule is 40 hours per week which may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Summary: This position is responsible for assisting in fulfilling the everyday staffing needs of Blythe Island Regional Park by performing a variety of semi-skilled park maintenance tasks including repair and upkeep of recreation and parks facilities, plumbing, mechanical repair, irrigation repair, preventative maintenance, and other grounds keeping duties such as litter control, and janitorial duties. 

Essential Job Functions: Performs various tasks including operation of grounds maintenance equipment; operation of boat launch equipment; operating and closing campground reservations office; facilities maintenance; grounds maintenance including debris and trash removal and janitorial duties as required; and equipment maintenance.Assists customers with inquiries about park operations. Assists with booking reservations for campsites. Identifies maintenance problems and initiates requests for necessary work; reports hazardous conditions to appropriate personnel; completes accident report forms to report accidents, injuries, or other incidents. Locks/ secures buildings and facilities. Operates park equipment such as tractor, backhoe, loader, dragging machine, mower, and other related maintenance vehicles and equipment. Completes routine inspection on equipment and vehicles. 

Monitors safety/security of program participants and recreational facilities; responds to injuries/illnesses, applies first aid to injuries, and contacts emergency medical services for assistance as needed; monitors recreational areas to ensure proper weather conditions for programs/activities; determines whether to discontinue activities or close facilities as appropriate. 

Maintains and organizes inventory of equipment and supplies; assists in preparing campsites and pavilions for guests; performs general repair/maintenance tasks involving recreational facilities/equipment; initiates requests for new/replacement equipment.

Maintains an awareness of applicable rules, policies, procedures, trends, and advances in the profession; maintains professional affiliations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned. 

The incumbent in this position is exposed to all weather conditions, including rain, humidity, extreme heat and cold.


A High School Diploma or GED supplemented by five (5) months previous experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job is required.

Special Requirements

Valid Drivers' License is Required. Must possess and maintain a valid Red Cross Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED or must attain within the first six (6) months of employment.
