The City of Canton Municipal Court provides an accessible legal forum for individuals to have their court matters heard in a fair and efficient manner while providing a high level of integrity, professionalism and customer service.
The purpose of this part-time position is to provide clerical and customer service support for the operations of the Municipal Court. Successful performance contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of those services. Some duties include: processes and enters citations and bond information in the court computer system; maintains filing system of various reports, correspondence and records; answers questions by telephone and in person related to the court calendar, filed information, court hearings, fines, and general inquiries about court services; collects money for fines, cash bonds, certified copies, and online payments; balances drawer; receipts payment and properly files receipts; files and maintains parking tickets sent to collections; clears tickets upon payment; certifies documents of prior conviction for public records; processes dispositions of citations and court documents for docket; enters probation orders and modifications assigned by the judge; generates license suspensions and reinstatements; requests incident reports for cases bound over to Cherokee County; assists in auditing Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and certification reports generated by Court Administrator; assists in the preparation of arraignments; runs dockets and verifies each ticket to ensure proper filing; prepares paperwork for scheduling cases for trials; creates and balances court docket; copies citations and reports for attorneys when a discovery is submitted; collects fees for videos of discovery; performs all other duties as assigned.
The position will be part-time working less than thirty (30) per week with no benefits.
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
