 Middle Georgia Regional Commission (MGRC) is seeking to fill the position of Workforce Development Director.  This position oversees day to day operations of the Workforce Development Department and the implementation of programs and initiatives under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2015 (WIOA). This position is responsible for providing overall leadership and management of Workforce Development Staff. This includes the implementation of effective workforce development strategies throughout Macon-Bibb County, planning and coordinating workforce development activities, and establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other Workforce Development Agencies, state workforce development staff, local governments, legislative staff, legislators, state and national organizations, and community entities to assure effective Workforce Development operations and quality service delivery. This position also assumes overall responsibility for the Workforce Development budget, maintaining relationship with Federal, State and local funding sources and identifying new funding opportunities, working with State policy and advisory boards, and serving as the official MGRC staff liaison on the Macon-Bibb County Workforce Development Board.  
 
Successful candidates must possess the ability to work in a fast paced, pro-active environment with many different stakeholders, including the Workforce Development Board and the economic development and business communities.  This position requires a talented individual who can engage collaboratively with local governments in a professional, resourceful, trustworthy, accountable, efficient, and innovative manner.
 
Qualified applicants should have the knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university combined with two to four years of progressively responsible, relevant work experience.   The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual who can engage effectively with coworkers and community members in the process of providing quality customer service. Candidates should possess a strong vision and desire for facilitating positive change that moves the region forward. A candidate must be able to address challenges with enthusiasm and positive energy that demonstrates a love for the work of growing and improving communities.
