The Gainesville Parks and Recreation Board is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Parks and Recreation for Gainesville, GA.  The position is currently open due to the retirement of the current, long-serving Director.  Candidates interested in applying for the position should apply by going to: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/gainesvillega. Less than an hour north of Atlanta, Gainesville/Hall County lies at the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  Among its numerous parks, the region is also spotted with pristine lakes, ideal for fishing and sailing.  Among them is Lake Lanier, 38,000 acres and 607 miles of shoreline that attracts more than 16 million visitors each year. In fact, Gainesville was home to the 1996 Olympic Rowing and Sprint Canoe/Kayaking competition and the venue is still a popular site for excellent rowing events. With an operating budget of $5.3 million dollars, our Agency operates and maintains 8 major facilities, 22 parks and over 644 acres of park land.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic, community minded individual with proven professional leadership skills. They must be energetic, a self-starter and have a great vision for taking the City of Gainesville Parks and Recreation to the next level. Their background should include working with a Board, management of finances for a Recreation Department, establishment of programs and policies, and oversight of staff.
