Public Works Laborer

This position involves daily operation of public works and utilities including but not limited to:  Utility maintenance and repair, water/sewer maintenance and repair, installing water meters, inspections, using heavy equipment and tools, pipe repairs, garbage pickup, street repairs, building repairs and maintenance, lawn maintenance and all other duties as assigned.

Prior experience is preferred.  Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License, a high school diploma or equivalent GED.  Must be able to operate heavy equipment.  Must have experience in general maintenance, repair, and construction.  Should be knowledgeable of construction materials, procedures, tools, and equipment as well as safety precautions.  Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, be able to bend, stoop, walk on uneven terrain and in inclement weather and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.  Must be able to manage multiple jobs and tasks. Drug test and background check will be performed upon employment.

Starting salary is from $13.67 per hour ($14.08 per hour after satisfactory completion of the six-month probationary period) to 16.81 depending on experience, along with health, dental, vision, life and retirement benefits.  Working hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday along with scheduled on-call time.
