The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Grant Writer/Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing grant writing and coordination services for the Community Development Department.

Major duties include researching grant opportunities for City projects and submitting funding proposals to granting agency for consideration; Maintaining a current list of grant opportunities that include previous awards as well as those aligned with established City goals; Presenting opportunities for new funding sources and innovative approaches for review; Researching specific requests for funding as received and compile findings for review; Carefully reviewing all opportunities to ensure eligibility and application requirements; Meeting with stakeholders to review opportunities and gather information as needed; Performing research and verifying information as needed to complete application; Maintaining and following an accurate and comprehensive suspense calendar to ensure that essential tasks are performed at the appropriate time in the application process; Developing grant related budgets and requests or drafts letters of support; Preparing and submitting grant applications in a timely manner on behalf of the City to request federal, state, or local assistance; Presenting informational and action items to the Mayor and Council.
Knowledge of federal and state grants, laws, and regulations as applied to human services, economic development, and housing; knowledge of grant application process and skills in interpreting contract language and federal and state program regulations is required.  Skills in mathematical computation, interpersonal relations and oral and written communications are also required.
Preferred qualifications include success in obtaining one or more of the following grants:
*HUD grants: CDBG or CoC
*DCA grants: ESG or CHIP
*DOT grants: Section 5307, Section 5339, Transportation Enhancement, or Transportation Alternatives

Success in submitting one or more of the following is also preferred: Consolidated Plan, Annual Action Plan, CAPER and AI/AFFH.  Experience in successfully requesting FEMA/GEMA Disaster Recovery Public Assistance is also required.
A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Communications, English, Professional Writing or a similar major and two years’ experience as a grants writer, with successful awarding of both federal and state sponsored funding is required. Minimum starting salary is $44,535.17 plus excellent benefits. The position is open until filled.
