Annual Salary: $19,263.00

Job Summary:
The part-time Magistrate Judge will exercise the jurisdiction and powers of a Magistrate Judge as defined in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated 15-10-2. These duties will include the hearing of applications for and the issuance of arrest and search warrants, First Appearance, Committal, Civil, On-call duties, County Ordinance Hearings; and any other duties as assigned by the Chief Magistrate.
 
Job Requirements:
The applicant shall possess a Juris Doctorate and be in good standing with the State BAR of Georgia. The applicant shall have five years’ experience working in a criminal justice or judicial setting. Pursuant to O.C.G.A 15-10-22(a), each applicant must be a resident of Dawson County for one year preceding the beginning of the term of office and shall as of such date be at least 25 years of age. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and must pass a background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
