Arlington Police Department – Chief of Police


The City of Arlington has a Police Chief position opening.   Anyone interested in this opportunity should submit a city employment application, copy of a resume, and three work references to the city, City of Arlington P.O. The police chief applicant should be a Georgia (Basic) P.O.S.T. certified police officer at the time of application. All applicants may be subject to an evaluation process that includes a background investigation.  The background check will include a credit examination, criminal history, driving record check, previous employment review, and a review of any other information deemed appropriate.  Applicants must be able to obtain a Georgia driver’s license and be coverable by the city’s liability insurance carrier prior to a job offer. The candidate will be evaluated on his/her education and experience in law enforcement, management, and leadership.     
The Police Chief reports to and is accountable to the city mayor and council. The successful candidate should have good financial management skills and is expected to operate the police department within the budget utilizing the resources available within approved spending guidelines and staffing levels.
