FESTIVAL CENTER COORDINATOR
The City of Duluth, Georgia, (pop. 28,000) is accepting applications for the position of FESTIVAL CENTER COORDINATOR.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Festival Center Coordinator manages event rental/scheduling and operations of the Duluth Festival Center and City Hall Community Room for various public and private occasions, such as meetings, parties, and weddings. This employee will also assist the Event Coordinator with special events open to the public such as music concerts, movies, craft shows, etc. Involves the supervision of interns, event attendants, maintenance workers; and coordination with police officers and others performing duties at events. This position requires a strong positive customer service attitude in dealing with the public, the ability to handle details of scheduling meetings and events, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment and deal with last minute scheduling situations. Must be able to work individually as well as with a team, and work independently with minimal supervision.
1. A High School diploma or state-issued GED is required, supplemented with training from a recognized institution in meeting and event management/planning, hospitality management, business administration or a related field. A college degree in a related field is highly preferred.
2. Two years previous work experience in meeting and event management/planning, or hospitality management is required. Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable.
3. Written/spoken fluency in a foreign language is beneficial, but not required, particularly Spanish, Korean, or Chinese
