Equipment Operator / Truck Driver (DCL) for Solid Waste

Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus, is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator / Trucker Driver for the Solid Waste Department.  This full-time position supervises the transfer station on Saturdays and drives a garbage truck for vacation and sick time relief of other drivers.  This position also supervises the inert waste landfill on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

HSD or GED; moderate experience in operation/maintenance of commercial class vehicles and equipment in a sanitation environment preferred; perform equipment inspections and minor repairs; perform dump site and landfill maintenance. Job functions include driving sanitation truck over prescribed routes to collect refuse and trash and transport same to transfer station. Must possess Georgia Correctional Officer I certification at minimum security or ability to obtain same within 6 months of hire (to supervise and work with inmates). Must possess and maintain valid Class B CDL.
